Ismail Sirdah Takes Photograph Up A Notch

Ismail-SirdahFor those of us who love photography, there can often be frustrations when we are unable to get the shot we want. I don’t know about you, but when I see the object right in front of me, but it just refuses to be appropriately captured, it drives me crazy. The sun might be in the wrong spot, creating a nasty glare and perhaps even a discolored result. Or, maybe you’re doing wildlife photography, and you’re trying to get that perfect shot before the animal gets spooked and runs away. And then, there’s the frustration of knowing that you’ll never be able to buy a plane or a helicopter and try your hand at aerial photography.

Thanks to modern technology, that state of affairs is quickly coming to an end. For an example of just how this is happening, we can look at the work of South African artist Ismail Sirdah. Born in Cape Town to a respected restaurant owner, he made his way to America and began his career as a musical promotion specialist. Working with various local bands to promote their music, he realized that it was insanely expensive to hire a professional photographer every time his clients wanted a fancy photo shoot.

With this desire to save money in mind, he enrolled in the local community college and learned the art of photography. Specializing in headshots and event photos, he quickly made a name for himself and became a respected member of the community in his own right. But, not content to stick with the plain and simple, he began designing his own UAV’s (unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly called drones) and using them to create a unique and compelling style of aerial photography.

Ismail Sirdah is known for wide, sweeping footage of Miami. When you see the images, you cannot help but think that this must be what the world looks like from the perspective of a bird or a bug. No more climbing rocks or walls to get that good vantage point for that perfect shot. Now, you can free your creativity and see the world from above, allowing others to see it as well.
